Hatha Yoga>Asana>Kukkutasana:
Procedure:Perform Padmasana. Insert left hand between left thigh and left knee, right hand between right thigh and right knee as much as possible. Lift the body leaving pressure on hands. Weight of the entire body will be on the hands. Fingers of the hand should face forward. Head and back should be erect. Focus your sight on a point in front of you. Stay in the final position until you are comfortable. Then come to the initial position slowly. Slowly release the arms and legs. Alternate the legs and repeat the Asana. It is called as Kukkuta-asana because it resembles a standing cock. BreathingInhale while lifting the body. Breath normally while in final position. Exhale while lowering the body to the ground. Duration of AsanaDo this Asana until you do not feel tiredness. MeditationPractice of this Asana helps to awaken the Kundalini power, which helps to reach higher states of meditation. CautionTo do Kukkutasana you should first practice Padmasana. If you can easily perform Padmasana, then only try Kukkutasana. Benefits:Muscles of the arms and shoulders becomes very strong. Joints are strengthened. You will feel a lightness in the legs. Abdomen is strengthened. Intestinal disorders are cured by the regular practice of this Asana. |
